Abstract

The nutritional status of pregnant women is a state of balance in the body resulting from the intake of food consumption and the utilization of nutrients used by the body to sustain life and maintain organ functions. The nutritional status of pregnant women can be assessed by measuring the Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC). MUAC measurement is considered quite representative, as the size of MUAC in pregnant women is closely related to their Body Mass Index (BMI), meaning that the higher the MUAC, the higher the BMI. The results of interviews and activities conducted at the Pangembang Hamlet Auxiliary Health Center (Pustu), Pucak Village, Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, showed that the level of knowledge of pregnant women regarding nutritional needs during the second trimester is still low, especially in crisis situations. This lack of understanding increases the risk of chronic energy deficiency (CED), anemia, and complications in both mother and baby, including low birth weight (LBW) and stunting. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase public knowledge and awareness of the importance of fulfilling nutritional needs of pregnant women in the second trimester. The method used was providing counseling on the nutritional needs of pregnant women in the second trimester during crisis situations. The results of the activity carried out on December 6, 2025, showed an increase in public knowledge and awareness about the importance of fulfilling the nutritional needs of pregnant women in the second trimester.
