Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is an indicator to see the success of maternal health efforts. AKI is the ratio of maternal deaths during pregnancy, childbirth and childbirth or their management, which are caused by pregnancy, childbirth and childbirth or their management, but not due to other causes. Maternal mortality in Indonesia is still dominated by three causes: bleeding, hypertension in pregnancy (HDK), and infection. Bleeding and infection tend to decrease, but the proportion of HDK (preeclampsia and eclampsia) is increasing (Marbun and Irnawati Irnawati, 2023). Based on secondary data from the Dahlia Makassar Health Center in 2022 to March 2023, the number of pregnant women who checked their pregnancies at the Dahlia Makassar Health Center was 519 with an estimate of around 25 to 30 pregnant women every month. Specifically in Kampung Buyang Village, from March to April there were around 9 pregnant women and 1 case of preeclampsia was found (Dahlia, 2023). One of the reasons is due to the lack of public knowledge and understanding of preeclampsia (Andriani, Murdiningsih and Rahmadhani, 2022). The aim of this assistance is expected to be able to help the community in the working area of the Dahlia Health Center, especially in the Kampung Buyang Village, about the dangers and initial handling of preeclampsia. This activity began with data collection related to the number of pregnant women who checked their pregnancies at the Dahlia Makassar Health Center, then continued with data collection on the number of preeclampsia incidents. After that, it is continued with community service activities which begin with a physical examination as an early detection and then counseling is carried out. The results of this assistance showed that there was an increase in community knowledge regarding the dangers and early treatment of preeclampsia in pregnant women.
