Design and Development of Travy Body Butter Preparation at PT. Tempat Senang Laboratories Batam

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop body butter preparations with rose extract as an active ingredient as an innovation in skin care products at PT. Tempat Senang Laboratories Batam. Rose extract was chosen because of its bioactive compound content such as flavonoids, anthocyanins, and vitamins that function as antioxidants and antiaging. Three body butter preparation formulas with varying concentrations of rose extract (2.5%, 5%, and 7.5%) were tested physically including organoleptic, homogeneity, and pH. The results showed that all formulas had a homogeneous semisolid form, white color with vanilla and coconut aroma, and a pH value in the range of 7.7–7.8 which is still acceptable for the skin. The use of additional ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, VCO, and argan oil supports the moisturizing and emollient functions in the preparation. In conclusion, rose extract body butter has the potential as a functional cosmetic product that is effective in moisturizing, hydrating, and protecting the skin from premature aging.
