Abstract

In Indonesia, herbal medicines are very widely used by most people in various regions which are believed to be able to treat various diseases such as diabetes, gout, and hypertension. The quality of herbal medicines circulating in general is still much in the herbal medicine category, not many can categorize standardized herbal medicines. Cherry fruit is a plant that has a sweet taste and has compounds that are efficacious as drugs to lower blood sugar levels. The purpose of this study was to find out that the preparation of cherry fruit extract (Muntingia calabura L.) met the standard requirements as a candidate for standardized herbal medicine based on the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia in lowering blood sugar in mice.. This study used a laboratory experimental method, namely to determine the potential of cherry fruit extract syrup (Muntingia calabura L.) in lowering blood sugar levels being tested. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that giving cherry fruit extract syrup at a dose of 8 mg/mL was more effective in reducing blood sugar levels in mice induced by Alloxan.
