PENGARUH TRIETHANOLAMIN TERHADAP FORMULASI GEL DAUN BIDARA (Ziziphus mauritiana) DENGAN BASIS HIDROKSIETIL SELULOSA
The Effect Of Triethanolamine On The Gel Formulation Of Bidara Leaf (Ziziphus mauritiana) Using Hydroxyethyl Cellulose Basis
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Bidara leaf (Ziziphus mauritiana) contains terpenoids, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, kuinon and steroids. Direct use of bidara leaves or extracts is less practical so it is necessary to make gel preparations that can facilitate their use and increase effectiveness. This study aims to determine the effect of triethanolamine on the hydroxyethyl cellulose base in the bidara leaf gel formulation (Ziziphus mauritiana) and to determine the optimum concentration of triethanolamine addition to the hydroxyethyl cellulose base on the bidara leaf gel formulation (Ziziphus mauritiana). Gel formula consists of bidara leaf extract, hydroxyethyl cellulose, aquadest, EDTA, methylparaben, propylparaben, propilenglikol and triethanolamine. Forumula gel is distinguished from triethanolamine concentrations namely Formula I 2%, Formula II 3% and Formula III 4%. The organoleptic test results have a blackish green color, a characteristic aromatic odor, no taste and a thick shape. The pH of Formula I and Formula II has a pH of 8 and Formula III has a pH of 7. The spreadability of Formula I is 6 cm, Formula II is 8 cm and Formula III is 7 cm. It can be concluded that triethanolamine can affect the physical characteristics of bidara leaf gel based on hydroxyethyl cellulose and the optimum triethanolamine consentration is 4%.
