Abstract

Labor pain is a subjective experience of physical sensations associated with uterine contractions, cervical dilatation and thinning, and fetal descent during labor. One of the nonpharmacological management of labor pain is the deep breath relaxation technique. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of breath relaxation on reducing the intensity of labor pain in phase I in the working area of the Ponrang Health Center, Luwu Regency. The research method is Pre Experiment with one group ore test and post test design. The population in this study were all participating mothers in the Ponrang District Health Work Area of Luwu Regency from April to July as many as 192 people. The sample in this study were mothers inpartu with kala I as many as 38 people. The sampling technique was accidental sampling. Data collection through primary data and secondary data. Data were processed using SPSS 24 version and presented in the form of tables and frequency distributions. The results of the research related to the effectiveness of deep breath relaxation on reducing the intensity of labor pain in the first stage of labor obtained a value (p-Value =.0001 <0.05). There is an effectiveness of deep breath relaxation on reducing the intensity of labor pain in kala I.
