Stroke is a disease that occurs suddenly and requires rapid treatment in order to reduce mortality and the risk of disability. Handling stroke certainly requires knowledge and attitudes that support to know the early signs and symptoms of stroke. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and family attitudes in providing early treatment for stroke. This type of research uses a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling type accidental sampling as many as 79 respondents. The research was conducted at RSKD Dadi in Makassar City in June 2019. The research instrument used in the form of a questionnaire. Data processing using Spearman Rank correlation test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and family attitudes with p = 0.000 and r = 0.838. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between knowledge and family behavior in treating early stroke with the strength of the correlation between the two variables is strong and shows a positive correlation direction where the higher the knowledge, the better the behavior of the family. Nursing interventions to increase knowledge about risk factors and early symptoms of stroke as well as home management during an attack need to be developed.
